An Everlasting Covenant

“A Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those in Jacob who turn from wrongdoing,” declares the Lord.

“As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the Lord : “My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the Lord , “from now and forever.”

Isaiah 59:20‭-‬21 NASB2020

There is a Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ. There is also a spirit of error, the antichrist spirit.

I encourage you to read Isaiah 59 in its entirety and compare the state of our nation to what God said to Israel. The similarities are striking and the promises the same.

If we turn from our wrongdoing, God will redeem us and hear our prayers. If we continue in our sin, cherishing lies instead of truth, we will have separated ourselves from God and He will turn a deaf ear to our prayers.

There’s nothing new under the sun. Human nature has never changed and God has never changed. Our world may have changed, but all it did was make it quicker and easier to abandon ourselves to a life of sin.

It used to be that social norms helped enforce morality. When immorality is the norm, following Jesus will become countercultural. That is where we find ourselves today. The stench of our sin has reached heaven and there is no salvation without repentance.

If you are Biblically illiterate, untrained in God’s Word, you will lack discernment. You’ll believe any wind of doctrine whether it be true or false. If you believe false teachings, you will act on them and live a lie. Do you want to live a lie?

I wasn’t raised a Christian. I grew up believing all the lies of the world. All the marketing messages meant to program you into consumerism took hold of my heart. I thought life was all about accumulating things and consuming stuff. It’s an empty lie sold by those who worship money and place their trust in economic activity. Don’t buy into the lie. There is no peace there, only striving after vanity.

God is awakening His people from their slumber. Sometimes it takes great shaking to rouse them from their stupor, drunk on the things of this world. Wake up. This world and everything in it are passing away.

It’s time to consider the words of God. Do you believe them? Then act on them. Be the light. Speak the truth. Live in the light of God’s love.

There is no salvation without repentance. You cannot continue chasing a sinful lifestyle and expect God to save you. God saves those who come to Him. There is only one way, God’s way. That means following Jesus, not your flesh. It means laying down your life and picking up your cross. Not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord” will be saved. Only those who do the will of the Father.

As a nation, it’s time to repent. It starts with you and me. Fighting the culture war is a lost cause. The devil controls popular culture. We must fight for the hearts and minds of those closest to us. That’s where you can actually make a difference. Don’t worry about social media, mass media, mass hysteria. God is found in private conversation.

Speak what God gives you to say in the moment. Be an example. Be a faithful witness to the watching world. God rewards those who seek Him. You’ll be going against the grain. Get used to it. Only the dead conform.

Jesus was a rebel against the religious establishment of His day. He showed the true way. He walked in perfect fellowship with His Father. Adam and Eve walked with the Lord in the cool of the day. Nothing has changed. God desires uninterrupted fellowship with you. He wants to walk and talk with you throughout the mundane and the sacred activities of life.

Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. He wants to be close to you. He wants to help you. He wants to guide you into the fullness of life. There is only one thing that separates us from God, our sin, our rebellion, our disobedience. It doesn’t surprise Him. He knows your thoughts before you do.

Returning to God is simple but it’s hard on our flesh, our pride, our earthly identity. It takes the act of recognizing our sin, confessing it and receiving God’s forgiveness. There is no safer place to be than in the center of God’s will. He’s a good God. He’s the perfect Father. He wants to forgive you. His mercies are new every morning. He doesn’t hold our faults against us. He just requires us to acknowledge the truth and genuinely turn from our sin and return to the Shepherd of our souls.

May God give you wisdom and insight into where you’re not following Him and trusting in your own understanding. And may He deal with you patiently and with abundant grace and mercy as He has with me. Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father are yours. You simply have to believe and receive.

Be blessed in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
