One and The Same

Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in the same way.”

John 5:19 NASB2020

“I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5 NASB2020

Jesus was loved by the Father because He was His Son. The Father loves His Son. The Son is exactly like the Father. They are One and the same. Jesus and the Father are One.

Jesus said and did what the Father said and did. Jesus is the visible representation of the invisible God.

You have a body, which can be seen. You have a soul, which is invisible, but alive and active. The soul is the seat of the mind, will and emotions. God is the head of Christ.

Just as Jesus can do nothing apart from the Father, we can do nothing apart from Jesus. Christ is the head of man. We have the mind of Christ.

Think about this. The flesh has deeds. The Spirit has fruit. The flesh has works. The Spirit abides. The mind set on the flesh is death but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.

What does this mean for us?

Relax. It’s not in your power to do anything that pleases God. You must first believe that Jesus is who He says He is. Then, when you have faith, the righteousness of Christ becomes yours as you are hidden in Christ’s atoning sacrifice.

You were purchased for a price. You belong to God now. God has permission to use you as He sees fit. It’s not our job to be the captain of our destiny. That would be rebellion against God, the sin of witchcraft. We are meant to walk with God, following the Spirit’s lead.

The time has come for separation. The things of this world are growing strangely dim. If we’re not abiding in Christ, if we do not remain in His love, life is empty and devoid of purpose and meaning.

The coming flood of the Holy Spirit will wash away all hints of worldliness, compromise, hypocrisy and man-made religion. Quite simply, God will purify a people unto Himself.

We remain in the world, but the world has no hooks in us. Our allegiance is to God alone. Political, economic and religious systems are like children playing in a sandbox. To them it’s important, but it’s child’s play. It has no bearing on reality.

The truth is eternal life begins at conception. Just like in the natural, when the genetic material of one lifeform fuses with the genetic material of another, a new lifeform is created. It takes months of incubation before the new life is able to live on its own outside the perfect environment of the womb. Then it takes years, before it is mature enough to become self-sufficient, so to speak.

In reality, none of us are self-sufficient. Only God is the self-existent One. We are all created beings, dependent on our environment to keep us alive.

When we come to faith, we become a new creation. Our life is fused with the essence of the Living God. It’s not a mental assent to enlightenment, it’s an internal work of the Spirit.

All things are in God’s hands. Our lives are meant for His glory. Our lives, lived according to the flesh, are over. Dead and buried in the waters of baptism. We have been raised up in newness of life, born from an incorruptible seed. Our God is holy, pure and righteous. He is our Father, we are His children. When we mature, we will resemble our Father in Heaven because Jesus lives in us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

His Church is built on this truth and no lie will prevail against it. Be ready for the occasion. The marriage supper of the Lamb approaches. The Bride and the Bridegroom will be united and become one flesh. With one mind. The mind of Christ.

Father, forgive us for living in the futility of our minds like the heathens do. We surrender to You, now. Lead us and guide us by Your perfect Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. Teach us and remind us, day by day, the words of Christ. Let us have perfect peace in the midst of trials as we trust completely in You. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
