The House That Jesus Built

He asked them, “But who do you say I am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God!”

Jesus replied, “Simon, son of Jonah, you are blessed! No human revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven revealed it to you. You are Peter, and I can guarantee that on this rock I will build my church. And the gates of hell will not overpower it.”

Matthew 16:15‭-‬18 GW

Lose yourself in Christ and you will discover true life.

The lordship of Christ has become my latest area of study and focus. More than gaining understanding though, it has become the focal point of my lifestyle.

Disciples are lifelong learners. They are dedicated to knowing God fully as they are fully known by God. Their heart is to be obedient to the teachings of Christ. Not the static, written words of Christ, which serve as guardrails for our faith, but the living and active words of God which guide their daily life.

Man cannot live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. It is written so that we can verify the truth that God is speaking to our hearts in this hour.

The great awakening is coming. Everyday, people are having aha moments. The lights come on. The house is swept clean. The Lord is invited in and He takes up residence. We sit at His feet and listen and learn and rejoice at the salvation we have found for our souls.

It’s time we consider our options. Count the cost. Get serious about what you believe.

One of my mentors teaches on the difference between preferred values and real values. Preferred values are the ones we esteem but do not practice. We know it’s a good idea, but our heart isn’t there. Real values are what drive our real actions. Actions speak louder than words.

The question of the day is, who do you say that Jesus is?

I was an unbeliever for many years. No one told me about Jesus. I was lost and had no hope. I was miserable, like everyone else who doesn’t walk with God.

One day, God revealed Himself to my heart and consciousness. I instantly became a believer after a powerful encounter with the living God. I was forever changed in a moment. I was a believer. I knew that God existed and I knew that Jesus was the Christ.

However, it has taken years for me to truly surrender myself to the lordship of Christ. Yes, He is Savior. Yes, He is Messiah. Yes, He is the Son of God. But is He Lord of my life? He is, of course, but did I recognize it? Did I honor Him as Lord? Did my actions show that He was Lord? Or was I just my typical, independent, rebellious self who only ran to God when I needed rescue? Hmm. Makes you think.

Where we’re going is the place that Jesus has prepared for us. There’s a place for us in God’s Kingdom. We don’t assert our place, we are invited in by God. Just as we open our hearts to God, God has opened His heart to us and beckons us to walk in it.

The place God has for us is eternal. Nothing can take it away from us. The devil will do everything in his power to attempt to distract, discourage and dissuade us from walking in the light. But our God is greater. And greater is He that lives in us than he that is in the world.

I encourage you to renew your mind. Your spirit is incorruptible but your mind and body can still be stained by this world. Don’t be like the world. It worships money instead of God. God owns everything, including your very soul and body.

These bodies we have are our earthly tabernacle. We will put off these tents when we enter in to the house that Jesus built for us. We will be resurrected into glorified bodies that do not decay or perish. With that in sight, with a promise so great, how can we not honor Jesus Christ as Lord?

Make up your mind for yourself. Who is Jesus Christ to you? A friend? A teacher? A Savior? Your Lord?

Lord, have Your way with us. We yield to Your Headship of the Body. Reveal Your sovereign will to us, today and everyday, so that we may walk in it. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
