No Good Apart From You

Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
Psalm 16:1‭-‬2 ESV

Jesus is our Righteousness. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. What does that mean?

It means stay humble. No matter how much good we think we do, we have nothing to brag about except that we know God. Our faith is what makes us righteous in the eyes of God, not our works.

Our works should come from a place of holy communion with God. Jesus is Lord. Our obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit is what unites His Church. Jesus is the Head, we are the Body. If the messages from the Head aren’t constantly animating the Body, we’re paralyzed. A body that doesn’t respond to the impulses from the head is lifeless. A body without a spirit is dead.

Without faith in Christ, we are spiritually dead. When we believe, we are born again of the Spirit of God. God’s Spirit invades our bodies, the last holdout of unbelief in this unbelievably marvelous world that He created.

We’re approaching a period of great trial and tribulation. It’s nothing to worry about. Everything that’s happening has been prophesied thousands of years in advance. We are witnessing the fulfillment of prophecy in our time.

Jesus told us all this stuff so that our joy may be full. For the believer, our salvation is closer than ever. For the sinner, there’s been no better time to repent and turn to God and discover what life is truly all about.

It’s easy to walk by the Spirit. Simply humble yourself, confess all your sins, and ask God what to do. Then go do it. Repeat everyday ad infinitum.

We have no good apart from God. We are no good apart from God. Apart from God, we are simply more fuel for the hellfire. With God, we are His children. With God, we are His beloved. With God, we are the people of His Presence.

Take your refuge in God. Do not be moved by the events in this world. Mere distractions. Follow God, day by day, in humility and prayer. He will guide you every step, if you only stop to listen for His instructions.

This is the Gospel of the Kingdom. God’s Kingdom reigns. If you are in Christ, your Lord will lead you. Look to no one but God to guide you. He is the potter, we are the clay. He molds and makes us as He chooses. Let Him be the Lord of your life this day.

Lord God in Heaven, let Your Name be kept holy. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us wisdom to walk in humble submission to Your Spirit. Lead us and guides us each and everyday. And may we endlessly praise and worship You. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
