You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Romans 8:9-10 ESV
Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”?
James 4:5 ESV
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV
We have a responsibility, if we are a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, to lay down our lives for our friends that we love, just as the Lord laid down His life for us. That’s what disciples do.
Jesus was the first disciple of the Father. He chose obedience to the Father’s will over self-preservation. What would happen if we chose obedience to the Father’s will over our own self-interest?
I believe we would discover our original purpose, our divine design. You know what that is? Being conformed to the image and likeness of God, to be Christlike.
If we settle for less, we’re cheating ourselves out of our inheritance in God and robbing everyone else around us of the blessing of God. If we keep our eyes on the prize, full maturity in Christ, we will find the strength to endure.
The enemy of your soul uses lies to deceive you. If he can fool you into thinking that you’re just a body with no higher purpose, you’ll follow your base instincts right into the grave. That’s the enemy’s plan, keep us earthbound and worldly. Our bodies are meant to be holy and set apart. We’re called to be temples of the Holy Spirit.
God doesn’t live in a building made by human hands. He lives in temples of human flesh. Our greatest struggle is putting to death the deeds of our flesh. But God is stronger than our flesh. Jesus is stronger than all the sin in the world put together. His Spirit lives in us. That spirit is greater than all of our fleshly desires. We simply have to believe it to achieve it.
If you doubt it, you’ll keep going around the mountain, repeating your daily struggle with sin. That’s not the victorious life that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus affords us. He died to give us new life. His Holy Spirit empowers us to live a life freed from slavery to sin. We are now slaves of righteousness.
Will we sin? Yes, when we forget who we are and why we’re here. Sometimes we forget and give in to temptation and act like our old dead selves. But that’s not who we are. Confess your sin, have someone pray for you, and get back in the game.
We have a will. Exercise your willpower to submit to God’s will. That’s the secret to living a godly life. The world is a lie. It is passing away. It’s becoming more and more corrupt everyday. Don’t hold out hope for the impossible. The end is assured. Only those who are found in Christ will inherit eternal life.
Time is short. Billions of souls hang in the balance. Do you care? Will you share the only hope for humanity? His Name is Jesus. He died for all of our sins and rose again. There is power in His Name.
Surrender your life to Christ to be used by Him to help save souls from hell and teach them to obey God. It’s pretty much the most worthwhile thing you can do. Not everyone’s ready. But when you find someone who is, they’ll thank you sincerely for sharing the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Have you been living a fleshly life? Have you been living a worldly life? Have carnal cares and concerns dominated your days? It’s time to repent. Return to God and be healed, be empowered, be sent out on mission. It’s not too late, until it is. No one knows when time runs out and eternity begins. It’s time to live again, for Christ.
Jesus, Lord in Heaven, have mercy on my soul. Forgive me of all my sins and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I yield to Your Lordship today. You are my God, my Savior and my King. Heal me of all my infirmities and diseases. Cleanse me from the inside out. Deliver me from all demonic affliction in Jesus’ Name. Cleanse my temple, fill my temple with You. Seal me with Your Holy Spirit and teach my heart to obey so that I may not sin against You. Thank You, Father, for giving me new life. I dedicate the rest of my days to serving You, by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13 ESV
