Just Love

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.

1 John 5:1‭-‬3 NLT

Works are only obedience if they’re done in love. Otherwise, it’s just legalism and religion, and nobody wants that.

We know that if we don’t have love, absolutely everything we do is a wasted effort. Furthermore, we become obnoxious and irritating, and nobody likes that.

It’s so simple, yet we lose sight of it daily. Just love. Just love God. He already loves you. You don’t have to earn it, you just receive it. Let Him fill your cup. Jesus Christ is the living proof of God’s love. Sent to die for our sins, He rose again to rule and reign, forever overcoming death and the grave.

Just love. Just love, people. Just love people. The just will love people. Whether they deserve it or not. That’s probably the most important thing to keep in mind when doing ministry or simply living your day to day life. None of us deserve God’s grace but He gives it freely to anyone who asks. Be an extension of God’s grace.

I’m finding myself frequently going back to the well to get filled up with God’s love. I need to live in His love to be effective in what I’m doing.

If I get caught up in the doing instead of being, I will lose sight of the purpose behind my passion. It becomes works, it becomes mechanical. If I focus on generating results instead of the methodology, I become impatient and unloving.

Authenticity is the hallmark of the Kingdom. Come as you are. God loves you anyways. And if we’re real Christians, so will we. Help people discern their next step with God. Let the Holy Spirit lead. Teach them to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice for themselves and be a safe place to confirm if they’re hearing correctly.

We love people into the Kingdom. It’s not something we can take credit for, so why keep score? Trust that God is the One who saves. It’s not our clever speech, works of service or anything to do with us. We’re just the vessels. Don’t confuse what God does through you with your identity.

The truth is, God doesn’t play favorites. I’m no better than anyone else, I’m no worse than anyone else. I’ve simply believed God at His Word and discovered it is all true.

We’re just getting started, ladies and gentlemen. Revival is for all of us. It starts with humility. It’s sustained through prayer. You see the hand of God move with power when you act in obedience. It’s really simple, but it means crucifying our flesh, our desire and our ego.

We all want revival, but who is willing to pick up their cross and die daily? Count the cost of being a disciple. Salvation is free but being a disciple will cost you everything. But none of it mattered anyways. It all amounts to a pile of rubbish compared to the incomparable greatness of knowing God.

Decide for yourself what you want. Do you want God’s will or something else? If you pray according to His will, it will be done. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Walk in His grace.

Lord God in Heaven, teach me to love like You love. Lead me to the places where Your grace is needed. Grant me freedom from religious practices that are not led by Your Holy Spirit. I want to walk in obedience to Your Spirit and Your Word. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Be alert. Be firm in the Christian faith. Be courageous and strong. Do everything with love.

1 Corinthians 16:13‭-‬14 GW
