O Lord of hosts, how blessed and greatly favored is the man who trusts in You [believing in You, relying on You, and committing himself to You with confident hope and expectation].
Psalms 84:12 AMP
If you don’t trust someone, you’re not going to listen to what they say. Or at the very least, it won’t carry any weight.
There are 4 voices in this world, 3 are untrustworthy: the flesh, the world and the devil.
Only God alone can be trusted and relied upon to always speak truth. So who are you listening to the most and why?
God cannot lie, it’s not in His divine nature. The devil only lies. He twists the truth with subtle lies to deceive us into living sinful lives of disobedience and worldliness.
He wants to see us murdered, robbed of our integrity and utterly destroyed in the fires of hell. He’s not your friend. He’s the enemy of your soul. Jesus is the redeemer of your soul.
The world and all its ways are under the rule and power of Satan. His time is short. Furthermore, as believers, we are not under his authority, he is under ours because we, if we’re obedient, are under Christ’s authority, who is under God the Father’s authority.
We don’t have to be victims of this world any longer. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Who the Son sets free is free indeed. We’ve been redeemed out of this sinful world and now are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God representing His holy way of living.
Your flesh, the flesh, your unregenerate mind and unsanctified body, represent the fallen, carnal, beast nature of humanity. This is why some folks think we evolved from animals, because without God’s Spirit in us, guiding us, we act like common beasts with no redeeming qualities.
Galatians 5 does a fine job of comparing our carnal nature with the spiritual nature. Don’t live a flesh driven life if you want to see a blessed life. Your body is home to the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life, all of which will tempt you to sin. You don’t have to give in to temptation. You choose to. Make better choices.
Your flesh, the world and the devil cannot be trusted. Therefore, pay them no mind. The more you ignore them, the weaker their voices become. That is why we fast, to strengthen ourselves in the Lord by hearing clearly from God while ignoring all other voices.
If you’ve been listening to and trusting in the wrong voices, now is as good a time as any to repent and confess your sins to God so that you may be healed and restored to the path of righteousness. God is a good God. He is always faithful, even when we are not. He doesn’t rub our nose in it when we sin. His heart is to restore us to sanity.
Jesus already died on a cross, once and for all, to bear the penalty for our sin. Now, we simply need to confess with our mouths and agree in our hearts that our sins are wrong, crimes against God and ourselves and our neighbors. Then, God will forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
Isn’t today a good day to start living right again? Won’t you pray with me?
Father God in Heaven, forgive me for listening to and trusting in the wrong voices. I repent for believing the devil’s lies. I repent for believing the lies of this fallen world of sin. I repent for believing the lies my flesh and the flesh of others said. I choose to place my trust in You, and You alone. Jesus, You are my Savior, my God and my King. I live for You alone. I trust in You alone. Give me wisdom and lead me and guide me all of my days by Your still, small voice, the Holy Spirit. Let Your Word be confirmed by two or more witnesses. May everything You say bear witness of what is already written about You in the Bible. I am Your child and Your servant. In Jesus’ Name I pray.
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
