Betrothed To Jesus

Instead, as we lovingly speak the truth, we will grow up completely in our relationship to Christ, who is the head. He makes the whole body fit together and unites it through the support of every joint. As each and every part does its job, he makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:15‭-‬16 GW

There’s something beautiful that’s coming in the near future. A bride that’s ready for her bridegroom. She will be without spot or wrinkle. She will be holy, sanctified and pure. There will be no hint of double-mindedness in her because her affections will only be for her groom. She will not adulterate herself with the things of this world. She won’t prostitute herself out for money. Her heart will be pure. Who is that beautiful bride? The Church glorified.

We’re already seeing the first fruits of a new way, the ancient way, of being the Church, the Bride of Christ. Christ is the Head of the Church. He loves Her and gave His life for Her. He is carrying Her and caring for Her. We can rest in His loving arms. When we move, it’s because His heart of compassion is moving us.

God’s doing what’s nothing short of miraculous. He is knitting His Body together. He is undoing centuries of man’s agenda and the devil’s divisiveness to create one, unified, united expression of His love here on Earth. He is the hand in the glove. He is restoring miracle working power to His humble servants who have no agenda other than to obey their Lord. It’s beautiful to behold. Don’t get caught building an altar, just keep going where the Spirit leads.

Our power structures have been inverted and backwards, stifling the maturing and equipping of the Body, keeping it in permanent adolescence. If there is to be any top-down leadership, it is only from Jesus. There are no intermediaries between God and humans except Christ Jesus Himself. He is our high priest.

Jesus gave us the perfect example of what leadership looks like. It’s laying down your life to serve the people you love. Self-important, narcissistic personalities continuously attempt to seize control. That’s the nature of the beast. People who are content don’t feel compelled to control others. Trying to control others is abusive. It’s time we recognize it for what it is and deal with it correctly. Purge the evil from among yourselves.

Jesus gave us the example to follow of humble servanthood. We are all sons and daughters of the King. No one is more important than another. All are loved equally. All should be respected equally. All should be given equal opportunity to be empowered and equipped to serve, according to the grace that has been given to them in Christ.

Every believer should know how to lead someone to Jesus. Every believer should know how to recognize God’s voice. Every believer should know how to pray effectively for healing and deliverance. There are no rockstars in God’s Kingdom. We don’t worship the gifts, we worship the giver of the gifts.

I’ve always said that humility is the key to the Kingdom. Recognize that you are nothing without God. You can do nothing without God. We have nothing to boast about except what God has done.

God will glorify His Bride. She will move with grace and power motivated by love. Unselfish concern for others and humility will be her distinguishing features. Are you in? Or are you out?

There is one Body and one Lord. It is written. Let’s quit making excuses for our disobedience and get with the program. Obey God. Obey His commandments. Go and make disciples. Love like there’s no tomorrow. Because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.

Beloved, let us love one another and seek the best for one another, because God loves us. All the gifts are given so that we can serve one another, not exalt ourselves. We’re here to build one another up in love, not tear each other down in pride and fear. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. It’s all about following Jesus. He is preparing His Bride. Let Him wash you and purify you before it’s too late.

Come to Jesus and live.

Father, forgive us for our infighting and pettiness. Restore an upright spirit within us. Give us clean hands. Give us pure hearts. Let us not lift our souls to another. Let us humble ourselves and obey You, and only You, and let us be united as one Body in the Spirit. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

So I tell you and encourage you in the Lord’s name not to live any longer like other people in the world. Their minds are set on worthless things. They can’t understand because they are in the dark. They are excluded from the life that God approves of because of their ignorance and stubbornness.

Ephesians 4:17‭-‬18 GW
