For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:5-6 ESV
As an evangelist, my heart’s desire is to introduce people to Jesus. I want them to get better acquainted with their Savior. How can I introduce people to someone I don’t know? That’s impossible, right? I must know Jesus, I must know God intimately, to act as His ambassador and to share Him with others.
My most effective and efficient method of evangelism is prophetic evangelism. What does that mean? It means relying completely on God to do the work. He initiates, He sustains, He invites, He welcomes them in.
It’s all motivated by the Holy Spirit, guided by the Holy Spirit, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. He points out who He wants me to talk to, He gives me the words to speak, and He works in the heart of the hearer to awaken faith to believe. It works, all to God’s glory, and I can take no credit for it. I simply obey my Master.
The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Whatever Jesus says is true. It’s true in the past, the present and the future. Jesus is the truth and He exists outside the bounds of time. He knows the end from the beginning. Trust Jesus, you’ll be glad you did.
The most important part of prophetic evangelism is to be so in tune with the Spirit of God that you feel what He feels, you see what He sees, and you say what He says. You become a vessel for God to move through. You become a servant of God.
God’s heart breaks for His lost sons and daughters. We are all created in the image of God, but those who don’t know Him don’t accurately reflect His divine nature. We were created to be like God, in regards to love. When Judgment Day comes you’ll be asked, “How well did you love?”
God is love. The Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of Love. Where God rules and reigns, love is the order of the day. The message of the Gospel is that God loves you. We’re trying to win your hearts back to God. God’s heart is already for you. Those of us who actually know God experientially and have a relationship with Him can testify to the truth of His unfailing love.
Do you want to become more effective at evangelism? Love people without judgment. Recognize them for what they are. Prisoners of Satan who have fallen under the spell of worldly deception. Jesus sent us to set the captives free. The truth of the Gospel, the truth that God loves them and sent Jesus to set them free from their bondage to sin, is the key that unlocks the door.
Jesus is the Door. No one goes to the Father except through Him. Without Jesus, salvation is impossible. In Christ, all things are possible. Jesus Christ is Lord. That means He is the highest authority and we are all sons and daughters of the King. We can all go boldly to the throne of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and pray and ask God for what we need.
He is a good Father. He already knows what we need. He has already provided everything we need for life and for godliness. We just have to ask Him. God, give us wisdom to live out our remaining days here on Earth to please You.
God will do it. Don’t worry. Jesus will save the day. The best thing you can do is learn to trust God in every area of your life. Let Him be Lord of your life.
Some simple prayers that I’ve learned might help you get to know the Father and His will for your life better. They work in any circumstance. Just pray and listen for God’s quiet voice.
- God, what do You want to reveal to me about myself?
- Lord, what is Your will in this situation?
- Jesus, how do You see this person?
- Father, is there anything I’m missing here?
- Holy Spirit, what are You doing right now?
- Holy Spirit, how can I partner with You in what You’re doing?
- Father, what do You want to communicate to these people?
If you humble yourself and pray, God will answer. God will direct your steps. It will take faith. It will build your faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Welcome to the Kingdom. God’s in charge here. He’s already made up a room for you. Are you ready to come inside from the cold?
May God bless your journey in Him. Amen.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
