But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”1 Samuel 15:22 NLT
Do you want to know how to please the Lord? Trust, listen and obey.
Trust God. Listen to God. Obey God.
Trust His voice. Listen to His voice. Obey His voice.
Anything less is rebellion and witchcraft.
There is grace. If you have sinned, confess and be restored to the right path. Do any of us get it right all the time? Only Jesus. That’s why we need a Savior. He is near. He is never far. His Spirit abides in those who obey Him.
Don’t believe me? Do a word study on obedience in the Bible. Some things never change. God delights in those who obey His voice. God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We’re the ones that change. We’re the ones who are progressively sanctified and conformed to the image and likeness of God. Don’t settle for anything less than your full inheritance in God.
Father, You do not delight in our rebellion and foolishness. Forgive us for leading self-directed lives. We want to obey Your voice without hesitation. Speak to us in a way that we can understand. Speak to our hearts by Your Holy Spirit. Give us the boldness to obey in the moment. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
“Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”
Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded. But now, please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the Lord.”1 Samuel 15:23-25 NLT
