The Fruit of Following

And He said to them, “Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk], and I will make you fishers of men.”

Matthew 4:19 AMP

How reproducible is your ministry? How easily can you transfer your teachings to others that can then teach others also? What if we took out the middleman? What if we did things biblically for a change? What if we all learned to follow Jesus by the Holy Spirit?

What is the fruit of your ministry? Are the gifts that Jesus gives being activated? Are the fruits of the Spirit manifesting in greater numbers everyday? Are people learning to obey their Master and Teacher? Or are we getting in the way of the Way?

Jesus said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

If you follow Jesus, the fruit of your ministry will be more followers of Jesus. Examine your fruit. Are you laboring in the wrong field? Are your efforts being wasted? Have we been deceived into reproducing something that is not even close to what God intended?

Follow Me, and I will make you. You don’t make you. You follow. He makes you as you follow Him.

How’s your relationship with God? Let’s focus on that question primarily in our disciplemaking efforts. How’s your heart? How are your other relationships? Are you displaying the love of Christ to others? If not, you’re not going to catch anyone for the Kingdom.

If we focus on external results instead of being faithful to the Lord’s leading, we will go astray instantly. Course corrections are heart corrections. If your heart does not belong fully to God, everything you do will be corrupted. A little bit of leaven leavens the whole lump. Excusing sin instead of confessing sin multiplies sin.

Keep it simple. Keep it real. Know God. Walk with God. If you do, more people will want to know and walk with God merely by witnessing your example.

Focus foremost on your faithfulness to God in every area of your life. You are responsible for your choices. Make good choices. Choose to obey your Master. He will teach you everything you need to know.

Eternal life is only found in one place. Faithfully following Jesus. Repentance precedes forgiveness of sin. John the Baptist came to prepare the way for Jesus. He baptized people who repented. Then they were ready to recognize Jesus as Lord and follow Him.

Jesus baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire. Power to obey and fire to purify. Be holy as God is holy. Obey Him faithfully until the end and you will see Him face to face in Heaven. Let’s please our Father in Heaven while there’s still time.

Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Let’s follow Him. Amen?

And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 24:12‭-‬14 ESV
