“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?”
John 14:1-2 NLT
Don’t be troubled. Don’t be afraid. Peace, be still.
The God of all comfort is ready and willing to meet every need, if only we would stop and listen and obey.
If you love God, stop sinning. Quit disobeying His commandments and ignoring His voice when He speaks. Repent and turn to God for salvation, healing and deliverance.
Listen to God. Read the Bible. It was written by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit didn’t go away, Jesus did. Now, we have the Holy Spirit in even greater measure than the patriarchs of the faith. We have more than John the Baptist. We have the indwelling Spirit of God abiding in us. It’s not a momentary visitation or empowerment. Listen to that voice.
Obey that voice. It lines up with the teachings of Scripture. It brings glory to Jesus, the Savior of the world. This morning, I didn’t have any thoughts about what to blog about. Then, the Spirit said, “John 14.”
As I read the chapter, something inside of me sparked and I knew I had to share it. Simple truths from Scripture that we need to know to live a peaceful and joyous life in the midst of the destruction of the world.
Knowing God. Trusting God. Living in constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit, is there anything better in this world? No.
I was at a revival meeting last night and the evangelist said we need to become addicted to the presence of God. As a former addict, I tend to agree. But the good thing about being addicted to His presence is that you can’t overdose and it’s life giving not soul sucking.
You also get instant withdrawals when you leave His presence. When you sin, you interrupt that fellowship. The darkness comes in. The peace, love and joy leave your heart. That’s when you know you’re out of bounds. That’s when you’re a prime target for demonic influences to invade your soul and body. Don’t make yourself a target. Repent. Confess your sins. Get prayer. Get filled up afresh with the living Spirit of God.
Come out of the darkness and live. Those who love Him obey His commandments. That’s how you know who is a disciple and who is a fraud. Don’t be a fake Christian. That doesn’t help anybody, least of all yourself. Repent. Follow Jesus. Share His message and His love. To God be the glory. Amen.
Lord Father, reveal to us any way that we are not living in accordance to Your will. Convict our hearts of our sin and disobedience so that we can repent and change the way we think and act. We do not want to continue on the path to destruction. We want to repent and live eternally in Your presence, both now and forever. In Your Name we pray, amen.
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:26-27 NLT
