A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35 ESV
What’s the Great Commandment? What’s the Great Commission? You’ll never fulfill the Great Commission unless you’re practicing the Great Commandment as a way of life.
Making disciples is about replicating the life of Jesus in others. You can’t reproduce something that you’re not. First, be a disciple. Then, complete the process by making disciples.
Making disciples is obeying God and loving people. People that don’t love God don’t make disciples.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
John 14:15 ESV
It’s really easy to fall into religious thinking or a performance mentality when attempting to live the Christian life in your own wisdom and your own strength instead of walking with God.
The key is to observe the condition of your heart. That will tell you if you are abiding in Christ or practicing sin. Loving God and loving people like God loves people is the most obedient thing you can do. Crazy right? It’s not about rule keeping. It’s about abiding in God’s Spirit. God is love and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
We’re free from the Law. We’re free from sin. We’re free from being enslaved to our carnal nature. We’re free to love. We’re free to be joyful. We’re free to overcome the world. God sets us free. Walk in your freedom. Walk in love.
God is love. If you’re loving people, you are expressing the divine nature. It’s impossible to love like God loves without God’s Spirit doing it through you. Rely on God, not yourself.
If you’re not loving people, you’re in sin. Repent. Love builds up, knowledge puffs up.
Love is the answer. God is love. God is the answer. Love God. Love people. Make disciples. It’s simple. Now go out there and obey the Lord. It’s the most wonderful thing you can do. It’s what life is truly about. Abide in Christ. That’s what being a Christian is all about. Any questions? Let me know.
May the Lord bless your day with a revelation of His love for you. And may you love others the way He loves you. Be a carrier of the Kingdom. Be an ambassador of Christ. Amen.
Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.”
John 14:23-24 ESV
