Rely on God’s Guidance

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

1 Corinthians 6:19 NET

There is a certain portion of the population that does not believe in God. There is another portion that believes in God, but doesn’t believe that they can hear from Him.

There is still another portion that believes that they can hear from God, they just don’t want to because they love their sin and rebellion more than they love God. There is a remnant that believe in God, listen to God, love God and obey God. God always saves a remnant.

To know and walk with God necessitates you have a living, breathing, walking, talking relationship with the Creator of the Universe. That’s the original design for humanity. He created us to live in a loving partnership as stewards of Creation.

Sin interrupted that. When man and woman decided that they would usurp God’s authority and decide for themselves what was right and wrong, good and evil, they broke the holy fellowship they had with their Creator God.

Ever since then, we have all been born into sin. Anyone who is not submitted to the Lordship of Christ is knowingly or unwittingly controlled by the devil. That’s what the Bible teaches and experience bears witness to the truth.

The Kingdom of God is a spiritual Kingdom that rules above all else. It has authority over the natural, fallen world. Jesus demonstrated this by changing water into wine, walking on water and commanding the sea to still during a storm. He also performed miracles of healing everywhere He went.

When we believe, we are born again of God’s Spirit. He resides in us. The Kingdom has come to us. Christ in us, the hope of glory.

For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

Ephesians 2:8‭-‬10 NET

God created everything. God created us. God saves us by His choice. We respond with gratitude in obedience. We can reject salvation and a life in Christ, but that’s a bad idea.

The point I’m trying to get to is that God can and will guide you in your daily life. He can’t lead you if you don’t acknowledge that He is Lord and He is God. If you reject God as the Lawgiver and Judge, the only One who can define good and evil, then you’re living in rebellion and the truth is not in you.

When we agree with God, He blesses that. When we don’t, He doesn’t. He is a God of Justice. When we sin and repent, confessing our wrongdoing, He blesses that. He is a God of Mercy. He wants to reconcile us all back to fellowship with Himself. That’s why Jesus came to Earth.

Jesus fulfilled all the requirements of the Old Covenant. Then, He established a New Covenant. Anyone who believes in Jesus as the Son of God and confesses it to others will be saved. Our faith in Him as Messiah is sufficient. Our salvation is a gift from God. We simply have to receive it and walk it out.

Once we come to know and believe, then the new life begins. A life in God, with God. We are no longer lost and alone in this cruel and unforgiving world. God comes to live inside of us. We can talk with Him, also known as prayer, anytime we want and we can hear from Him. He lives inside us, how could we not have silent conversations with Him in our heart of hearts?

What the world needs is more people who know and walk with God. God has a plan and a purpose. We get to participate in God’s redemptive plan as we walk in obedience to His will. He can guide you every step of the way. God knows best. Our best option is to seek His face and get His counsel on the best course of action.

What we see in the world today is lawlessness. People who don’t know God decide for themselves what is right and wrong. Now, sin is called good and good is called evil. Everyone is their own god and chaos and disorder is the rule of the day. Pride goes before a fall. The greater the pride, the greater the destruction.

There is hope. There is Jesus. There is a life spent in humble submission to God. With God, our future is guaranteed. All this is just a light and momentary affliction. Soon, it will all be over. Then, you’ll be glad you suffered with Christ for His Kingdom as you are welcomed into eternal glory with Him. Keep your head up and your eyes on Him. We’re only beginning to see the signs of the end times. The worst is yet to come.

Listen to God and obey His guidance. That is the way of peace, both now and forever. Follow Jesus. That’s what it means to be a true disciple. Let the Holy Spirit speak His Word to you. May the Church honor Jesus as the Head of His Church, purchased with His blood. May we all hear His voice and obey it. In Christ we pray. Amen.

As he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And a great storm developed on the sea so that the waves began to swamp the boat. But he was asleep. So they came and woke him up saying, “Lord, save us! We are about to die!” But he said to them, “Why are you cowardly, you people of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was dead calm. And the men were amazed and said, “What sort of person is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!”
