All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
Walk by faith.
The Scriptures teach us and remind us of what is true. It is easy to forget. It is easy to fall prey to temptation. It is easy to get distracted. It is easy to get discouraged. It is way too easy to live by what we see rather than by what we know.
Walk by faith, not by sight.
Remember the promises of God. God cannot lie. If He said it, it’s true. If it is written in Scripture, it’s true. The world cannot accept the truth, nor does it recognize it. The Gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing. Don’t fall victim to following the crowd or the culture. Follow Jesus. Live by the truth of God’s Word. Sometimes you’ll find yourself standing alone, but that’s okay.
At some point you must learn that you need to be your biggest advocate for your own spiritual health. Of course, Jesus is our advocate with the Father. He is praying for us continually. There is grace that sustains us. Yet, to walk in the fullness of life, to walk in the light, we must walk in the truth.
How do you know truth? You know Jesus. You know Scripture. You know the will of the Father. You know the Holy Spirit and you don’t grieve Him with your willful disobedience. You don’t let pride keep you from loving others.
Life is more art than science. It’s more grace than religion. Everyday we grow. What direction are you headed? More like Jesus? Or more like this corrupt and perverted generation? Read the Scriptures daily. In the morning. In the evening. Any time is a good time to remind yourself how to live.
God has already done the heavy lifting. Jesus has already prepared the way. We are reconciled to the Father by grace through faith in Jesus. Now walk by faith. Walk in faith. Walk, don’t run. One day at a time, our lives are in God’s hands. Let’s walk according to His plan as revealed in Scripture.
Day by day, His will is revealed. Feed yourself daily on His Word and grow strong in the Lord. Perish not in the regrets of the past or the phantoms of the future. Today is the day of salvation. Live in the moment. Abide in Christ. Walk in love. Speak the truth in love. Let everything you do be done in love.
Father in Heaven, stir up a holy thirst in me for Your Word. Remind me how to live. Renew my mind with Your Word. Refresh me with the truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. Give me strength to stand in the evil day. May Your truth be the meditation of my heart. Give us wisdom O God to live our lives for Your glory. Amen.
May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.
