So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.Galatians 5:1, 16 NLT
Anything that hangs on a tree is cursed. We’re not called to cling to the law, we’re called to cling to Christ.
The law, religion, effort based attempts to make one’s self righteous, are all fruitless. The very idea that we can make ourselves right with God by any effort of our own denies the grace of God and severs one’s relationship with Christ.
It is only through humility and repentance that we can receive that which we cannot attain: right standing with God. If we can only be saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, how then are we sanctified? By our own efforts? No, it’s only by freely accepting God’s goodness in our lives in spite of our carnal nature.
For some reason it’s easier to come to faith than to walk in faith. Religion is always trying to corrupt God’s message by making it about what we do instead of what God does. It’s time to change our approach to living life in the Spirit.
God chooses to save us. It’s not our idea. God chooses to refine us. It’s not our idea. Trust that God is doing what He wants and it’s ultimately for the best. God initiates, we respond.
Listen to God and obey God. Trust, listen and obey. Jesus is the Head, we are the Body. Jesus has the plan, we are the hands and feet that carry it out. Jesus is the Messiah, we are the messengers of this Good News.
Religion is dead. Rule keeping is a waste of time. It’s very simple. Follow Jesus. Be led by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will not lead you to sin. Instead of trying to eradicate all the sin in your life, just focus on abiding in Christ and walking in love. Then you will not fulfill the lusts of your flesh.
Trust Jesus. He is enough. My grace is sufficient for you. Sufficient for salvation. Sufficient for living. Sufficient to walk in freedom. The law has been abolished. Don’t seek to return to slavery. Live life in Christ. Live life in God’s love. All has been forgiven. Jesus paid the cost. Forgive and be forgiven. There is no law against love.
