The Author Will Finish His Work

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Philippians 1:6 NLT

Apart from Me you can do nothing.

Apart from the presence of God, you cannot bear any spiritual fruit.

What is our responsibility? To abide. To remain connected to the vine. To allow God to prune our unfruitful branches and even the ones that are fruitful. Trimming away the things in our lives that take our energy and focus off God is a work of the Spirit.

Being pruned is not comfortable, but it’s a necessary part of the process of being sanctified and made fully mature in Christ. The discipline of the Lord is for our benefit even though it hurts for a short time. Quit resisting God and embrace the changes He’s making in our lives.

Embrace the shaking that will come. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken until only that which cannot be shaken remains. Only that which is built upon the Rock will stand. Only what is orchestrated by the Lord will endure. I am above all things. I am in all things. And everything belongs to Me, says the Lord.

God will do it. Whatever needs to be done. Our job is to abide. Our job is to listen. Our job is to obey. When we humble ourselves and pray, He will answer. God is not silent. We just need to be willing to hear what He has to say. Are we listening?

God started a good work in you on the day you first believed. The work continues. Keep on believing. Keep on trusting. He will not abandon His work. He is faithful, even when we are not.

The dawn of a new era approaches. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Those who follow their King will not be put to shame.

Abide in Me and I in you, and you will bear much fruit. Remain faithful in the fire and bring glory to God. Rest in Me and I will refresh you. Quit striving in the flesh. God’s will is that you walk humbly with your Lord.

Father, forgive us for taking our eyes off you and our ears off, too. Reveal the plans you have for us. Lead us and guide us, day by day, as we abide in Your Presence. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.”
