“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14 NLT
The narrow gate represents the way to enter God’s Kingdom. You can only enter one at a time. Everyone must make their own decision about what they believe and how they will live as a result.
The narrow gate leads to the pathway of love. Only those that love God more than anything else will enter, because it means leaving everything behind. Have you entered the narrow gate?
Count the cost. Is being a disciple really for me? Do I want to submit to Jesus Christ as Lord? Or would I rather do my own thing? There are billions upon billions of ways to go wrong. There’s only one way to go right. That’s to follow Jesus Christ.
If you let the Holy Spirit of God lead you, there’s a narrow path to walk. That’s the way of love. The way of service. The way of laying down your life for your friends who also follow the Way.
The Way is not religion. It’s not in our power to make it happen. What’s in our power is our willingness to listen to God and our choice to obey. Everything else is in God’s hands. The agenda, the power to carry it out, the results – all His.
Who is your Master? God or your flesh? God or religious tradition? God or the world? God or yourself? God or sin?
There is only one way to peace. There is only one way to joy. There is only one way to life eternal. Through faith in Jesus and walking with Him day in and day out for the rest of your life.
Disciples follow Jesus as the Holy Spirit leads. If the Spirit is leading, the flesh will be kept in subjection and the bond of peace, which is love, will unify the Body.
Follow Jesus and live. Or don’t. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
Lord, lead me in the path of life everlasting. Amen.
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
Galatians 5:16 NLT
