Show Me Your Faith

Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”

James 2:18 NLT

Do you want to see if someone has faith? You cannot see faith, you can only see the evidence of faith. You cannot see the wind, you can only see the evidence that the wind is blowing. If things are moving, the wind is blowing. If faith is expressing itself by doing good deeds from a heart of love, faith is alive. Faith that does not produce good works is dead. It needs revival to be resurrected from the dead.

What does revival look like? It’s faith expressing itself through love. Revival means bringing life back to something that is dead. My ministry’s motto is “facilitating revival.” Facilitating simply means making something easier to accomplish. How do we make it easier to bring people to a living faith? We preach what we practice.

We start with knowing and walking with God. Then, we let God lead us to do His will. I can’t make anyone do anything. All I can do is pray and speak the truth in love. Somehow, that makes room for God to move.

When we humble ourselves and lose our agendas, then we are able to follow God. Following Jesus is not an exercise in trying to obey religious teachings according to your own interpretation. That’s an exercise in futility. Disciples walk with Jesus. Disciples talk with Jesus. Disciples do life with Jesus. How? Through the fellowship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They all agree because they are all One. If we have the Holy Spirit, we have a relationship with God.

I like to say that God gave you a will so that you can use it to choose God’s will. God’s will is the correct way. Any other way is not. We have the freedom to choose. Obedience or sin. Walking with God or missing the mark. Walking with God means walking with love. God’s love will not lead you into sin. Release yourself from the prison of religious indoctrination and experience the true freedom of living in Christ.

Show me your faith, not your traditions. Express love through good deeds, not mindlessly going through the motions. Revival is coming. Revival is here. It’s not for spectators. It’s for doers of the Word. Those who do God’s will are truly sons and daughters of the King.

Lord, give us ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to Your Church and give us hearts that are quick to obey Your Voice. Amen.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

James 1:22 NLT
