But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 5:8 NLT
We cannot earn our salvation. There’s nothing that we can do to convince God to rescue us from our sorrowful state of leading empty, self-directed lives. The truth is, God wants to save us because He loves us. Can you accept the fact that God loves you and wants what’s best for you?
Even more, God doesn’t expect you to figure out what to do, where to go and what to say. He invites you to follow Him. He wants you to walk with Him.
Jesus is our Savior and our example. He only did what He saw the Father doing. He only said what He heard the Father saying. He and the Father are One because He walked in perfect obedience to the will of the Father.
He desires that we be one as well. There is only one body and only one head. As we are led by the Spirit to do the will of the Father, we are united with Him.
All this is a free gift from God. His good will towards humanity is evidenced by the pouring out of the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins. The power to live in victory over sin is evidenced by the pouring out of the Holy Spirit which inspires and empowers us to live godly lives. It’s all a gift from God. No works required.
The good works we do come about as we follow Jesus by being led by the Holy Spirit. God initiates, we respond.
We have been set free. No longer bound by sin. No longer bound by the Law. No longer bound by religion. We have entered into an eternal relationship with our God and King by the free gift of salvation by grace through faith. You’re free. God saved you. Enjoy.
Father in Heaven, restore to me the joy of my salvation. Amen.
For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
