Love & Fellowship

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:7‭-‬8 NLT

So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:6‭-‬7 NLT

We were created to have fellowship with God and each other. Sin interrupts that fellowship because sinning is anything that goes against God’s character. God has no fellowship with darkness.

There is Good News though. Jesus took the penalty that we deserve for our sins. Our sins are not excused, they are forgiven. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness. As one of my mentors says, confession brings cleansing.

We were created to love and be loved. God first loved us. He shows us what perfect love is. The Law was given as a schoolmaster. Jesus completed the course. The Law shows us what sin is and why we need a Savior to deliver us from sin.

Now by faith, our fellowship with God has been restored. We can walk and talk with God in the cool of the garden, or wherever we find ourselves. God is near. God is present. He loves us. He desires uninterrupted fellowship with you and everyone else. His Spirit dwells within those who believe.

Let us devote ourselves once again to fellowship in Christ. The light shines brightest when we are together in unity. The Holy Spirit unites us. Love perfects us. Love cannot exist in a vacuum. It needs a subject to act upon. Love one another, and so prove that you are children of God.

Lord, lead us into the fullness of Your love in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and the Body of Christ. Unite us as One with You and The Father. Amen.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

Acts of the Apostles 2:42 NLT
