If everyone in the world was acting like I am right now, would the world be a better place? Or a worse one?
That’s how you can decide for yourself if something is morally right or wrong. Unless you’re a psychopath. Then you’ll think that the rules that apply to everyone else don’t apply to you. That’s plain insanity.
Now as believers, the judgment of whether something is right or wrong is no longer in our hands. We are relieved of that duty. God clearly tells us what behavior pleases Him and what disappoints Him.
Now as New Covenant Christians, we are no longer under the Law of Moses which spells out what sin is. We’re not measured on our performance to an external standard of right and wrong. That measuring rod has been removed.
There is only one standard now. Christlike love. If everyone in the world was loving others like I am right now, would the world be a better place? If you can say yes to that, you’re blameless. Stay that way until He returns.
Either way, wherever you find yourself on the faith spectrum, I encourage you to abstain from unethical behavior. It’s better for everyone.
Father, save us from ourselves. Amen.
Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].
