What’s Your Learning Style?

‭‭So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.”

John‬ ‭5:16‭-‬17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Good morning, Church. I have a few questions for you. Turn to your neighbor and say what? Hold up. What’s that? Where did that come from? We don’t live in ancient Greece anymore. We’re not limited to their methods.

How do you learn best?

Being lectured?

Being yelled at?

Being told everything you’re doing is wrong?

My ears can’t hear when that happens. My mind turns off and I go to sleep. It’s a defensive mechanism to protect myself from verbal abuse.

If you can’t control yourself, you lack self-control and are obviously not walking in the Spirit.

Remember school? Yeah, boring. Choke me with a spoon.

How do you learn best?

I learn best by doing.

I learn best from watching others’ examples and improving upon them.

Jesus knew this.

That’s why He made disciples.

Disciples are disciplined.

Disciples are doers of the Word.

Consumers are hearers only.

Businesses make customers.

Families make children.

What are you making?

What are you maintaining?

A business or a family?

Care for souls, not buildings.

Prioritize building people up, not your budget, nor your ego, nor your social media following.

Advance God’s Kingdom, not your own.

Make disciples.

How?

First, you must become a disciple of Jesus.

Learn.

Do.

Speak.

Trust.

Listen.

Obey.

You learn by doing.

What are you doing?

Managing a business?

Or obeying the Voice of the One who will judge your soul?

Repent.

I’m never going to get tired of saying that until the whole Body is mature. It’s for our mutual benefit.

Grow up.

Jesus is coming back soon. Then class will be dismissed once and for all.

Learn or perish.

God will not be mocked.

Father, fire all the phoney preachers. Remove them from their pulpits. Free Your people from being enslaved once again to a religion of works. Amen.

‭‭Jesus said to the Jews, “I can guarantee this truth: The Son cannot do anything on his own. He can do only what he sees the Father doing. Indeed, the Son does exactly what the Father does. The Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. The Father will show him even greater things to do than these things so that you will be amazed. In the same way that the Father brings back the dead and gives them life, the Son gives life to anyone he chooses.”
