The Word Is Alive

‭‭Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

The purpose of gifted teachers is to teach people the truth of God’s Word and how to learn for themselves.

The purpose of gifted shepherds is to care for people and to help them learn how to care for themselves and others.

The purpose of gifted evangelists is to help people encounter God and enter into an eternal relationship with their loving Heavenly Father. They also equip people to share the Good News of the Kingdom of God effectively.

The purpose of gifted prophets is to share what God is saying to individuals and groups of people. They also teach people how to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit.

The purpose of gifted apostles is to righteously represent the Kingdom of God on Earth and to teach people how to walk by faith. They also expedite the work of God in others.

So let me ask you, how has God gifted you?

Now give it away.

Why? That’s how we grow mature and build up the Body. Don’t think you have to do everything. Model, teach and delegate.

Are you blessed?

God blesses those who are poor.

Are you poor? Not in the worldly sense, but in spirit.

If you don’t think that you need God to lead you in your daily life, you have made yourself the god you worship. And the Kingdom of Heaven is not yours.

Do you realize your need for God?

The more I get to know Him personally through conversations, the more I realize how desperately I need Him every second of the day.

My experience, strength and hope sometimes leave me still searching for answers when confronted with situations I haven’t encountered before. And routine is boring to me so I’m always seeking out new adventures and experiences.

As I’m growing in God, maturing into the likeness of Christ, I find that I need to become less so that He can become more. I need less of my mind and more of His.

I’m useless without God’s Spirit animating my mind and body. We did a switcheroo. I traded my old life for His new life. I traded my sin and shame for the righteousness of Christ and eternal unconditional love and acceptance. It’s a pretty good deal if I say so myself.

I’m hidden in Christ. I’m somewhere in there but He’s now in charge. I submit my will to His.

Every time I think I know what I’m doing, I’ll go and mess things up. Every time I ask God what He’s doing and how I can participate, things go miraculously.

God’s will. That’s it. That’s what we’re here for.

What’s God’s will? That we love Him more than our own lives. That we love people living in proximity to us.

What are we waiting for?

The world’s problems are too big to ignore. We have a role to play. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

God is coming back again soon. Will He find faith at work?

As for me and my temple of the Holy Spirit, we’re learning to walk in step with the Holy Spirit.

Try it. See how you like it.

God, save us from empty religion that has no power to transform our hearts. We need You to lead us and guide us. Come and be Our King today, and every day, in Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

‭‭“Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
