Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Matthew 5:4 NASB2020
Are you happy now?
Well you better sit down for this one.
You see, sin is destroying our world and there’s only one cure. Repentance.
What is repentance? It’s being confronted with your sin, becoming aware of the consequences, becoming extremely sorrowful, and then changing the way you think and act. It’s an emotional and rational response to truth.
What is sin? A violation of the Law of God.
What is the law? Love everybody equally. God doesn’t play favorites and neither should we.
That’s a tall order. I think it’s fair to say we’re all sinners. There’s room for improvement.
The Good News is grace. The Good News is there’s a Savior who atoned for our sin, all of it, for all humans, once and for all on the Cross of Calvary.
That Savior is Jesus Christ the Righteous One.
He ratified the New Covenant with His blood.
If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, I’ve got some very good news for you. You don’t have to wallow in sin anymore.
Receive the love of God. It breaks the chains that separate us from His Presence.
Confess your sins, one to another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.
God is a God of healing. Healing comes when we’re reconciled with the truth. The Truth is Jesus.
Welcome to the family. We’ve been expecting you.
Father in Heaven, send the Holy Spirit to convict the world of sin. Show us what grieves Your Heart. Sin is: not loving others as You have modelled, taught us and explained over and over again. Forgive us, O God, for being stiff-necked and slow learners. Have patience with us, Lord, we didn’t have any good role models except for Jesus and those He lives in. Give us wisdom to walk in your ways. Forgive us, O God, and we will be forgiven. I plead the blood of Jesus over myself and my oikos, my God-given sphere of influence. Lead us back to You. We see the error of our ways and we repent. Come, Lord Jesus, come. Come fill our hearts again with the Holy Spirit. We believe You are the One True God. Give us victory over sin. Help us live and love again, just as You have commanded. Become Love, Church. Amen.
Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted].
