The Holy Spirit and we have agreed not to place any additional burdens on you. Do only what is necessary by keeping away from food sacrificed to false gods, from eating bloody meat, from eating the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual sins. If you avoid these things, you will be doing what’s right. Farewell!
Acts 15:28-29 GW
The above instructions were for non-Jewish followers of Christ. The apostles and the Holy Spirit were in agreement on that one.
The Law of Moses was never intended for people who are not Jewish. Let’s get that straight. Avoid religious legalism.
Maybe you’re a Jew by birth. Jesus is still for you. Messianic Jews have an enormous wealth of wisdom to share. I heard one explain the symbolism of the Seder meal and was blown away by how everything points to Jesus as Messiah.
Maybe you’re not a Jew by birth. Good news! Jesus is still for you. In fact, the same Holy Spirit that Jesus gave the disciples at the birth of the Church on the Day of Pentecost, is given freely to anyone who believes.
The Holy Spirit is the evidence of our faith. It’s also the guarantee that we will be saved on the Day of Judgment. Our love for one another proves that the Holy Spirit is in us.
Let the Holy Spirit lead you, after all, He is God.
You’ve got free access to all the wisdom and knowledge and power in the Universe because God loves you and chose you to be His child by faith in Jesus.
Now get up and walk it out!
But don’t let me tell you what to do. I only encourage people to trust, listen and obey God by fellowshipping with God and doing what He says.
That’s following Christ in my book, which has not yet been written. Besides, we have the Bible. Everything that needs to be written has already been written. We’re just distributing bread to the poor.
Christ set you free. Why return to slavery again?
Father in Heaven, thank You for loving us and saving us. Baptize all believers in the Holy Spirit today. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
