See that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Therefore do not become partners with them; for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), as you try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:6-10 NASB2020
Walk as Children of Light.
Walk as Children of God.
Walk as Christians born again of the Spirit of God.
Just walk.
If you’re not walking, you’re either running from God or going nowhere.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
Ephesians 5:1-2 NASB2020
Walk in love. That’s carrying the Kingdom forward. That’s how we advance the Kingdom of God.
Walking is intentionally moving forward, one step at a time. One foot on the ground, one foot in heaven. Our eyes always on the prize, we’re bringing Heaven to Earth as we walk in obedience to the Spirit of God.
It’s simple really. Too simple for some. Except that it works. Nothing else produces the fruit that obedience to God does.
Walking with God is the method we use for teaching people how to be a disciple of Jesus.
It’s slow and deliberate. It affords you the time to observe your surroundings. It gives you a chance to notice things that grab your attention. Be intentional about responding to what God brings to your attention.
Ask Him, “Why?”
“What are You trying to teach me here in this moment?”
He’ll explain it to you. Everything is a teachable moment when you’re a disciple of Christ. We are learners of Christ. Christ is our teacher.
Learning in a classroom setting works for some but not for most. Most learning is done organically through sustained relationships. That’s the teaching method Jesus employed with His disciples.
Let’s do what Jesus did. He walked. He talked. He demonstrated the Kingdom. He explained the Kingdom. He invited people to join Him in the Kingdom.
The Kingdom is now. Walk with Jesus. The Holy Spirit is in you. Trust God. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Obey His voice. To God be the glory. That’s the end of my story.
Have a blessed day! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
