Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV
In the past, we had to send people places to reach unreached people.
That hasn’t changed. However, the people God sends has.
Instead of sending foreign missionaries to foreign lands, God is using indigenous workers to reach people of every tribe, nation and tongue.
What’s the difference you ask? Efficiency and effectiveness. Make the most of every opportunity.
Consider what it takes to train a mission field worker, have them raise their own support, fly somewhere and live somewhere for a few years. That’s a lot of time and money for someone who then needs to adapt to a new culture and build relationships across cultural divides.
Now consider technology. I can meet and talk with people in Africa or Asia, or anywhere there’s Internet access, at any time for almost nothing. Sure, there’s a time difference, but we can coordinate our schedules ahead of time to make the most of our time.
We encourage and train the workers who are already at work in the field. It just makes more sense. I can make disciples of all nations from my living room by equipping ministry pioneers in foreign lands. Pretty convenient and cost effective.
Now, what’s our mission field? Well, where has God planted you? Who do you have access to? That’s your mission field.
What’s your mission strategy? We’re all called to be on God’s mission. He makes us a holy nation, a royal priesthood.
Equip the saints to do the work of ministry.
Equip every believer to know God, to have an intimate, personal relationship with God, where they hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Some think this is too much to ask. I ask, when you were born did you speak? Did you understand the words people were saying? Start with the groanings of the Spirit, learn your heavenly language. God will give you the interpretation. If you don’t possess the gift, ask God for it.
Equip every believer to present the Good News clearly and know how to share their testimony and invite people to respond to the Good News. The days of the one man show are over. Effective ministry means multiplying mature disciples.
Equip every believer to heal the sick, cast out demons and make more disciples that do the same. Need I say more?
The world and the Church are in desperate need of God’s miracle workers. Make more of them, not of yourself.
We don’t need celebrities. We need all hands on deck.
What’s your mission strategy? Is it working? How would you know? How do you measure success?
Success in my book is obeying the voice of the Lord. I think that’s what the Bible teaches. If I’m wrong, please show me.
Father, forgive us for wasting time, talent and treasure on the wrong things. Help us to get back on track, to be yoked with Jesus by faith. Amen.
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:15-17 NKJV
