Transition Strategies

‭‭Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1 NLT‬‬

Before, we had a curriculum. Now, we have a way.

The Way of Jesus.

What is the Way of Jesus?

Listening to the Father. Being filled and led by the Holy Spirit. Rejoicing always in our relationship with God, not just our knowledge about God.

We may have tips, tactics and strategies that are helpful, but at the end of the day, the only thing that saves you is faith in Jesus. The only thing that works is obeying the Holy Spirit. The only thing that matters is Christ. Why confuse things by adding stuff that’s unnecessary?

Less is more. Simple obedience is best.

Jesus didn’t tell us to build buildings, He told us to make disciples. If we need a building, one has already been provided. The Temple of God is people.

Build up people in love. It’s free. The only debt we owe is loving one another.

The Kingdom of God is here. It takes a little adjustment to get used to, but once you’re in it, or more correctly, it’s inside of you, life becomes a miraculous adventure with Christ.

At least, that’s been my experience and I think Scripture backs up this observation.

I could be wrong. It happens. I’m not perfect. Jesus is.

I trust Jesus. I trust the heart of the Father. I trust the voice of the Holy Spirit implicitly. He’s never led me astray.

I’m the one who leads myself astray when I listen to my flesh, the flesh of others, or the lies of the enemy. If I believe a lie, and then act on it, I’m in error. I have fallen into disobedience at that point and need to repent and course correct ASAP.

Lord, correct us. Correct our hearts. Correct our minds. Correct our doctrine. Amen.

What’s the best strategy for gracefully transitioning from error to Truth? Truth telling.

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

‭‭1 John 1:8-9 NLT‬‬

I had a powerful dream the other night. In it, we were on some dry, dusty ground. We had scratched out the floorplan of a building in the baked clay.

Suddenly, the conviction of the Holy Spirit fell upon me. I repented on my hands and knees to God in tears. We had gone off course. God never told me to build a building, He told me to make disciples.

I woke up thinking it had really happened, the dream was so vivid and real. But it comforted me and others that I told about it.

Our mission is to obey God. My mission is to make disciples that know God, hear God, and obey God. That’s it.

We make disciples in fellowship with one another and the Godhead.

Trust, listen and obey. If you’re weak in one area, discuss the Scriptures and pray with others who are stronger in that area. We need each other. All of us. There is only One Church, the Body of born again, Holy Spirit filled believers.

Lord, lead Your Church! We submit to Your Lordship. Destroy every lofty argument that opposes the Good News. Amen.

‭‭Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

Hebrews 12:15 NLT‬‬
