Pray For One Another

‭‭Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

James 5:16 NLT‬‬

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

During worship at a church service today, God spoke to me, “You have faith, I have the power.”

Our faith in God unlocks the infinite power of God to do anything that we ask for in His Name according to His will.

Think about that.

God can do anything. We just have to ask.

He’s our Loving Father. If you want God to do something on your behalf, just ask. He’s better than you could possibly think or imagine.

‭‭Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Ephesians 3:20 NLT‬‬

Recently, I’ve implemented the battle buddy system with a friend of mine. Life is full of challenges and obstacles to overcome. It helps to have a living, breathing friend in your corner.

It’s really simple. What we do, every morning, is we text each other and ask how we may pray for one another. Then we text our prayers to God on each other’s behalf to each other. It’s powerful!

For example, say I’m struggling with something or have an important appointment that day. I ask for prayer. My friend prays. I read his prayer. I pray it for myself, too. We do that for each other. God listens and responds as He sees fit.

‭‭“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

Matthew 18:19-20 NLT‬‬

We’re busy dudes so texting is great for our lifestyles. We can respond when we have time so we’re not limited to connecting with each other at a certain time in a certain place. Sometimes I’m busy, but when I see his texts, I always make sure to respond with love, grace and kindness when I have a moment to center myself in Christ and intercede on his behalf.

Both of our walks with God have benefited tremendously. I think God is pleased with our reliance on Him and our desire to build one another up in faith.

I encourage you, if you’re not already doing it, consider who you could be battle buddies with. It could be your spouse if you’re married. It could be a family member, if you share the faith. It could be a friend, the family you choose. It could be someone else in your local church family.

The important qualities to look for in a battle buddy are that they have faith in God, hear from God, love you unconditionally and are available for a few minutes everyday.

And if you’re an unmarried person, your buddy needs to be assigned the same sex as you at birth by God the Father. He doesn’t mess around with our identities, but that’s another encouragement for another day. Things are crazy here in America, just saying.

You can text, email, call, visit in person, whatever works best for you and your buddy. No one should walk alone.

If you read Paul’s letters in the Bible, you’ll see he practiced something similar to the battle buddy system. He starts his letters with a prayer or blessing for his intended audience. He then includes his specific prayer requests. If it’s good enough for the Apostle to the Gentiles, it should work for us, too!

Pray for one another. Find one other to pray with you daily. I guarantee, you’ll be pleased with the results.

Father in Heaven, we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand. We are nothing without You. We can do nothing without You. Without Your Love working through our lives, we are useless. Fill us with Your Love until we overflow. We yield our lives to You today. King Jesus, have Your way with Your Church, today and everyday. In Your Name, we pray. Amen.

‭‭Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Colossians 4:2 NLT‬‬
