It’s Okay To Wait

‭‭Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

James 5:7-8 NLT‬‬

What are we waiting for?

The Second Coming of Christ to judge the living and the dead.

Personally, I can hardly wait, but I have to. The anticipation of Heaven burns bright in my mind and heart. Imagine it.

Imagine a world where there is no sin, no sickness, no disease. There’s no suffering, no lack, no death, no evil. That’s just what’s not there.

What is there? Love unending. Joy unspeakable. Peace that surpasses all understanding forevermore.

Everyone there is kind, humble, generous, faithful, gentle, respectful and full of grace towards everyone and everything. Why? Because they obey God and love others like Jesus does.

Sounds pretty nice, right?

That’s why I look forward to leaving this world behind. When this mortality is shed and immortality is given with God’s glory, I’ll be one happy camper.

Until then, we persist. We persist in prayer. We persist in serving others. We endure mistreatment, trials and tribulations and persecution for living our faith. But that’s all minor stuff compared to what’s promised.

If you’re like me and have trouble sitting still, meditate on the eternal goodness of God. He is always good, always faithful, always loving, always willing to forgive.

There’s nothing He can’t do, even rescue sinners from their sin. Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Leave the results up to God and wait on Him to answer.

When we accept whatever God allows into our lives with thanksgiving in our hearts, we live joyfully and righteously represent the Kingdom of God.

Why do we suffer? To build character. If you’re being tested, rejoice. God thinks you’re worth improving.

God doesn’t stop. He doesn’t quit. He never gives up. He will continue to do what only He can do until we’re all fully mature in Christ.

Now is the time to wait on the Lord. Listen for His guidance. He is Lord after all. What He says, goes.

Father in Heaven, we wait on You to send King Jesus back to Earth. Fill our patient hearts with joy as we anticipate the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Guide us in our daily lives to do Your will and not our own. Help us to die daily so that we can live for Christ. Amen.

‭‭But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV‬‬
