Delight Yourself In The Lord

‭Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 ESV‬

God’s will is better than anything we could ever imagine on our own. Who sacrifices themself to rescue rebellious people? Think about that for a minute.

I think a proper understanding of the Gospel changes things. It helps us get our minds right. It helps us get our hearts right. It helps us live our lives right. The Gospel changes things. The Gospel changes everything.

God’s will is not our own. Remember that. We must seek His will. We must discern His will. We must patiently wait and pray that His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

We are seated in heavenly places. What does that mean? Seats represent authority. God is on His throne ruling the nations. By faith in Jesus, we enter into an eternal, loving relationship with our Heavenly Father. Now, we can boldly approach the throne of grace and ask God for what we need.

What do we need? More of God leading more of us.

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.

‭1 John 5:21 NLT‬

Our hearts are extremely important. They direct our lives. Everything flows from the heart. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Too often, we get things backwards. We try in our own effort and strength of will to do the right thing. That’s religion in a nutshell.

Religion is actually a curse. It keeps us in bondage to an external set of rules and regulations that are impossible to meet in human effort.

That’s why we all need a Savior, Someone to set us free from the weight of religious duty and obligation. We need Jesus, the Perfect Son of God.

Yesterday, He told me, “No obligations. Only love.”

The weight has been lifted. The price has already been paid. We’re under grace now. Did we sin? Yes. Will we sin? Most likely. Will God forgive? He always welcomes us back with open arms.

‭If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

1 John 1:8-9 NLT‬

There’s nothing too bad and no one too far gone that the love of God can’t redeem. The only question is are we willing to be loved? Are we willing to love in return?

I say yes to love. I say yes to eternal life. I say yes to Jesus.

Let us delight ourselves in the Lord. Let us trust fully in His Love for us. Let us wait patiently on the Lord to lead us and guide us into His perfect plan for our lives. Let us rejoice in our salvation.

For freedom’s sake we have been set free. Enjoy your freedom in Christ. Amen.

Father in Heaven, we rejoice in our salvation. We take our delight in being in Your Presence forever. Nothing can separate us from the love God has for us. Fill our hearts with Your Love. Fill our minds with Your thoughts. Fill our lives with Your ways. Fellowship with us, O Lord, so that we may have fellowship with one another. Let God rule forever in the Kingdom of God. Amen.

‭My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.

James 5:19-20 NLT‬

  1. This is one of the encouraging verses which make us keep on moving no matter the situations surround us.

    1. ‭Yes, always think about Jesus, who endured opposition from sinners, so that you don’t become tired and give up. May the Lord bless you and keep you strong in faith!
