This is what the Lord says: “Let no wise man boast of his wisdom, nor let the mighty man boast of his might, nor a rich man boast of his riches; but let the one who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises mercy, justice, and righteousness on the earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 NASB2020
When we die, all of our knowledge dies with us, unless we pass it on to others. When we die, all of our strength dies with us. No one works in the grave. When we die, all of our riches are inherited by someone else who didn’t work for them.
Wisdom, strength and riches are all temporary. Let’s not boast about things that do not last.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
Matthew 24:35 NASB2020
Heaven and Earth will pass away, consumed by fire. Let’s not seek our comfort and identity in things that are perishable.
The word of the Lord stands forever. Let’s anchor our hope, our confidence and our understanding of who God is and what His plan for our lives is there.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
Psalms 119:105 NLT
The Word of God is sufficient to instruct us about who God is, His divine nature, what His heart is, what His character is, what His will is, etc.
Through the Word of God we can get to know God better. If you want to grow in your knowledge of God, become intimately familiar with Scripture. Comfort yourself with God’s Word. Instruct yourself with God’s Word. Equip yourself with God’s Word.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
How is your relationship with God?
What does your daily diet look like?
You are what you eat. Devour the Scriptures and you will grow in Christlikeness if you do what they say.
Father in Heaven, thank You for the written Word of God, the Holy Scriptures, the Bible in all of its forms and translations. Thank You that it’s freely available online. Give us a renewed desire to read Your Word, study Your Word, meditate upon Your Word, and the desire and ability to do Your Word. Let Your Word light our path. Inscribe Your Word on our hearts. In the Mighty Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Do your best to present yourself to God as a tried-and-true worker who isn’t ashamed to teach the word of truth correctly.
2 Timothy 2:15 GW
Amen!
