It’s All About Relationship

The entire Bible, Old and New Testaments, Old and New Covenants, are a cohesive story of how God created humanity and wants us to walk and talk with Him and one another. It’s all about relationship. It’s all about love.

‭Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.

“‘And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’

“The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Mark 12:29-31 NLT‬

God wants us to be willing to die for Him, because He already died for us. God wants us to be willing to live for Him, because He already rose from the dead and intercedes for us night and day.

God wants us to worship Him and Him alone. He wants us to obey Jesus. This is because Jesus is the source of eternal salvation and the mediator of the New Covenant written in His blood.

God wants us to love one another like Jesus loves us. When we worship false gods, whether it’s a false religion, earthly things like money, or anything else that takes priority over our relationship with God and harmonious relationships with others, we have fallen from grace and are cut off from the Presence of God.

You know when you’re not abiding in the love of God because you can feel it. Our emotions are the indicator lights for our thought life. God knows what you’re thinking all of the time. Nothing is hidden from Him. Purify your thought life by keeping love foremost in your mind, towards God, towards your fellow believers, and towards the enemies of God, lost souls. How else will people experience the love and truth of God if we don’t share it with them?

‭Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

Hebrews 6:11 NLT‬

True worship is living your life on earth for God. Jesus is our example. Follow Jesus. Obey His commands. He commands us to love one another as He loved us. He laid down His life to rescue sinners. Are we called to anything different? I think not. Jesus said there is no greater love than to lay your life down for your friends. Jesus is also called the friend of sinners. Something to think about.

Let us not love our own lives unto death. Let us not love our own agendas unto idolatry. Let us turn to the Lord and receive the forgiveness of sins.

‭While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.

Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.

In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.

Hebrews 5:7-9 NLT‬

Let’s reflect and take stock of our relationships. Are they based on unselfish love? If not, why not? What can we do to right the ship? Who do we need to forgive for offending us? Who do we need to make amends to for sinning against?

It’s all about relationship. Prioritize your relationship with God above all other things, systems and people. Love people like God does above all other things, programs and systems. Be faithful to do God’s will. Don’t get deceived by the enemy into not loving people.

Father, fill us with Your Christlike love. Let it overflow into every area of our lives. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

‭So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

John 13:34-35 NLT‬
