Peace Surpasses Understanding

‭“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”

John 14:1 NLT‬

Do you need to know how the sun rises to enjoy the dawn of a new day?

Do you need to know what a dog is thinking to enjoy their companionship?

Do you have to understand everything about God before you can enjoy having a relationship with Him?

Do we trust God?

When you know God personally, you quickly gain confidence that everything He says and does is perfect.

We’ve entered into a new age of understanding. We understand that our understanding is limited. There is so much more to God than we can currently grasp with our limited human intellects.

How many deep, personal relationships can you maintain at one time? One? A handful? A baker’s dozen? God can have one with everyone in existence simultaneously. Think about that.

How many people can you love unselfishly at a time? Again, God loves everyone equally all the time.

In light of how awesome God is and how loving and capable He is, why do we struggle with trusting God?

There is only one thing that we can control, our choices. God gave us free will. That’s the power we have, the power to choose.

We can choose to trust God.

When you trust in God, God takes care of everything. All you need to do is pray and ask God what His will is concerning anything you encounter in daily life. He’s happy to lead you. In fact, I think that’s the whole point of life on this planet, following Jesus by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God. Trust in the Son of God. Remember what He did for you. That was just the beginning. He will complete the good work He began in you, and everyone else that He chose for salvation. Hold on and enjoy the ride.

Father in Heaven, thank You for revealing Yourself to our hearts. Speak to our hearts. Speak to our spirits. Let Your words comfort our souls. Give us the words to speak to comfort the souls of others in the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

‭Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
