Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.
John 14:28 NLT
When Jesus walked the Earth, He was the only begotten Son of God. He was the only One who only did what He saw the Father doing and only said what He heard the Father saying.
He paved the way for our salvation. He modelled a life of faithful obedience to the will of the Father. He invited His disciples to follow Him, learn from Him, do what He did, and carry on the mission of making reproducing disciples.
After Christ ascended, the Holy Spirit descended. Now, Jesus is the firstborn of many brethren begotten by the Spirit of God. Through the empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we too, can become like Jesus in character and conduct. We can be partners with Christ.
When we willingly submit to God and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we are cooperating with the will of God. When we obey God, abiding in His Presence, we lovingly act in accordance to the will of our Father in Heaven.
Growing mature in the Lord means dying to yourself. Being great in the Kingdom means being a servant of all. The best thing you can do with “your” life is lay it down as an offering unto God. Christ will pick up that offering, make it pure and holy, and then use it for God’s glory.
God is inviting us to follow Him daily. He is inviting us into a life of willingly submitting all that we are, all that we do, all that we say, to Him. He is our Father. Are you a son? Are you a daughter? Grow into full maturity in Christ. Amen.
Father in Heaven, mature Your Church. Amen.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
