Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments.
1 John 5:1-2 NLT
God’s commandments are all about having healthy, loving relationships. First, with our Heavenly Father. Then, with other believers.
If we truly love God, we willingly obey His commandments. God commands us to love one another. Loving God means loving one another. It’s as simple as that.
If we love anything more than people, we are in idolatry. Remember, love God more than anything and love people like Jesus does. If you do that, you’re holding up your end of the bargain. An eternal life of love is a great place to be. Don’t depart from the Kingdom, where God reigns in our hearts.
Lord God, let Your Love rule and reign in our hearts. May we all depart from wickedness. Amen.
And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.
Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
