A Strong Witness

‭For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard.

Acts of the Apostles 22:15 NLT‬

Our testimonies are powerful.

We share what we have seen and heard. No one can argue with that.

We can argue about doctrine, but no one can deny the story of a life changed by the power of God.

Tell your story.

What have you seen God do? What have you heard God say? What He whispers in the dark, in the secret place, shout it from the rooftops.

There’s a simple three point formula for preparing to share your testimony.

  • What was your life like before you knew Jesus?
  • How did you come to faith?
  • What changes have happened since then as a result of your relationship with God?

Whether you have 30 seconds, 5 minutes, or 30 plus minutes, always be prepared to share your story with someone who needs to be encouraged to follow Jesus.

‭But dedicate your lives to Christ as Lord. Always be ready to defend your confidence ⌞in God⌟ when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect. Keep your conscience clear. Then those who treat the good Christian life you live with contempt will feel ashamed that they have ridiculed you.

1 Peter 3:15-16 GW‬

There’s a simple three step process to advancing the Kingdom of God wherever you are:

  • Prayer
  • Evangelism
  • Disciplemaking

Prayer precedes everything. How do we know what to do unless we ask God? Seek God’s will first, and then pray that it be done. Pray with a team to get confirmation of what God is speaking to you individually.

Then, take action. Step out in faith. If God tells you to share the Good News with someone, there’s a very good reason why. He’s already prepared them to listen and receive the seed of faith.

Evangelism can be as simple as starting a conversation, getting consent to share your testimony, presenting the Gospel, and then inviting the listeners into receiving Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to pray with people.

Disciplemaking is what happens after you welcome someone into God’s family. It’s like having children. You love them. You speak the truth in love. You encourage them and feed them.

You celebrate as you watch God grow them into mature followers of Jesus. The main thing is that you are present in their lives and you stick with them until they get it. Eventually, they’ll go on to make disciples themselves. Good parents equip their children to become good parents someday.

Relationships are what matter most. They are the backbone of a healthy civilization.

God uses relationships to reconcile people back to God. Let’s all be improving in our relationship skills. It’ll do a world of good. I think we can all agree, the world needs a little help right now in learning how to love one another. Go be the Kingdom.

Father God, equip us to do Your will. Amen.
