Love Is The Service

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing. If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.

1 Corinthians 13:1‭-‬3 AMP

Ministry is service. It’s others-oriented. Our goal is to develop Christ-likeness in ourselves and others.

That’s no small task and if our motivations are wrong, we’ll be wasting everyone’s time.

We serve because we love. We love because God first loved us. Our service is love and love is our service. Love is the service.

God is love and His love is on mission. His love is redemptive. God’s love is restorative. God’s love is unconditional. God’s love is transformative. God’s love is a free gift.

A gift is useless unless you receive it. We must first recognize and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. Then, we can receive, or be filled, with His love and Holy Spirit. Then, we can share it with the world around us.

You can’t export what you don’t have. Experience His love. Let it transform you. Then, let it lead you. Our stories of transformation, testimonies of the power of God in the here and now, are an undeniable witness for the watching world.

It’s pretty simple and simple is best. They will know we are disciples by our love for one another. So go out there and love somebody. You’ll be glad you did!

Lord God, You are the source of all good things. You are Love and You are light. Fill me with Your love and Your light so that I might shine bright for You. Thank You, Lord. Amen.

By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.
