I Will Give You Rest

‭Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28 NLT‬

Are you weary? Have you been carrying heavy burdens for too long?

Is everything you’re doing just an exercise in frustration? One more thing to be endured?

Are you weary of striving to appear righteous? Are you heavy laden with the burden of your sin and shame or all the religious obligations you find yourself committed to?

Then quit.

Stop trying.

Give up.

Cease from striving to do things in your own wisdom and your own strength.

It’s time to surrender.

Surrender to God and He will give you rest.

The problem with law based religion is that it’s our attempt to make ourselves right with God, which is impossible.

What if you’re already right with God because you believe in Jesus? Would that change anything for you?

What if Jesus said that if you believe in Me, then My righteousness is applied to you?

We are made righteous by faith. Rest in that knowledge. There’s nothing more that needs to be added to our faith to receive salvation from the Lord.

Then, live by faith. Just walk with Jesus and let Him use your body to do the Father’s will.

Life is pretty simple. We just like to make things complicated. I’m not sure why. I suspect the devil’s involved in that somewhere.

Love is all that matters.

God loves you. Accept that. Receive it freely.

Rest in the knowledge of God’s love for you and everything and everyone that He created.

Abide in His love. Walk in the freedom that Christ delivers to us. There is no more obligation to law based religion. The law is the administrator of death. Christ is the administrator of eternal life. Which do you prefer?

Father in Heaven, deliver us from religious mindsets. Set us free to do Your will with hearts of love. Let Your Spirit lead us. Amen.

‭My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
