This letter is from John, the elder.
I am writing to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I love in the truth — as does everyone else who knows the truth — because the truth lives in us and will be with us forever.
Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ — the Son of the Father — will continue to be with us who live in truth and love.
How happy I was to meet some of your children and find them living according to the truth, just as the Father commanded.
2 John 1:1-4 NLT
If we don’t live in love, we don’t dwell in Christ. If we’re not speaking the truth, the Father of Lies is speaking through us.
Clearly, living by faith, living according to the truth, is not a one time decision. It’s an ongoing act of our wills to put God first.
God commands us to love one another and unselfishly seek the best for everyone. He provides the Holy Spirit to inspire and empower us to do just that.
The more you walk with God, the more He works through you.
For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].
For the Law was given through Moses, but grace [the unearned, undeserved favor of God] and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:16-17 AMP
Obeying God’s commandment is not difficult. In fact, it comes naturally out of the overflow of our loving relationship with God. It’s also immensely rewarding to see the peace, comfort, and joy that people experience when you love them as the Lord directs.
We’re all uniquely gifted to love others in our own special way. Be filled with love, be filled with God’s truth, and go express what God gives you to share.
It’ll bless the people in your life whether they thank you or not. We don’t serve God for the approval of others. We serve God by loving people, and they generally approve of that anyways.
Be kind. God’s grace is sufficient for everyone to be saved. Continue in love and truth and trust that God will reward you on the other side.
Some people refuse to be the kind of people God created us to be.
Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

Father in Heaven, let us continue to abide in Your Loving Presence. Let us continue to remain in Christ. May we continue to live in the truth and in love until Jesus Christ appears once again. May we always be found living according to the truth. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
