Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?
Isaiah 2:22 NLT
This morning, when I arose, the Spirit was speaking to me. He directed me to read the first four chapters of the prophet Isaiah and the first two Psalms.
Upon reflecting on what was written, I realized that what was true thousands of years ago is still true today.
If we place our trust in humans, we will be sorely disappointed. Humans are frail. Humans are weak. As soon as the breath in our lungs disappears, we die and turn back to dust.
Don’t trust humans.
Trust God.
Don’t place your hope in humans and the things they do.
Place your hope in Jesus. He always follows through on His Word.
Now remember, our battle is not with flesh and blood. Humans are not the ones we’re supposed to be fighting against. It’s the spiritual forces of darkness that have enslaved the humans to sin that we should be casting out into the outer darkness.
Only fools put their trust in humans and their activities. Who can stand against the Lord? Who can defy His counsel? The Lord’s purpose will always prevail. None can stand against Him.
In light of that, what shall we do?
Repent of disobedience and walk humbly with the Lord. Listen to what He says to you, day in and day out. And carry out His instructions, not your own selfish desires. Then you will have peace in your hearts and minds.
Don’t confuse the world and its ways for My desires, says the Lord. I do not behave like they do. I do not speak like they do. All the evil men and women will be exposed. Their deeds will be uncovered for all to see.
Now is the time for repentance. Return to the Lord and be healed!
Lord God in Heaven, have mercy on me. Forgive me for placing my trust in something so fragile as another human being. Give us willing and obedient hearts to follow after You and not the ways of the world. May all forms of false worship cease. May we cast down all our idols and return to walking humbly with the Lord by the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities — for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!
