Brothers & Sisters

My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?

James 2:1 NLT

There is one Father. Therefore, there is only one family of believers and we are all brothers and sisters.

As brothers and sisters, we are all equal in the eyes of God. None can claim superiority, that would be the sin of pride which is an abomination to God.

These six things the Lord hates; indeed, seven are repulsive to Him:

A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that creates wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths], and one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.

Proverbs 6:16-19 AMP

God hates pride and all the evil that comes from it. As we examine our own hearts, let us all repent of thinking higher of ourselves than we ought to.

Selfishness is the root of much evil. It creates separation between us and God and everyone around us.

Let us not walk in pride, selfishness or any other gross sin. That is not who God created us to be.

He created us in His image and His likeness. Throw off the deeds of the flesh and put on your new nature, created to be like Christ.

As brothers and sisters in the Lord, let us live with one heart, one mind and one purpose: to hear and obey the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord God in Heaven, we approach You in humbleness of heart. Have mercy on us. Have mercy on our nation. We have all gone astray. We have all wandered off the path of loving others as ourselves. We choose to confess our sins instead of conceal them so that we may be healed and cleansed of all unrighteousness. Let us all return to the Lord in truth. Let us all be brothers and sisters again, united by the Holy Spirit. Let our walk reflect His talk. Amen.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
