Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.
1 John 4:5 NLT
World news speaks from the world’s viewpoint and the world listens to it.
Good News comes from God and those who are being saved believe the truth of God’s Word.
But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.
1 John 4:6 NLT
The content we consume daily influences how we think. Worldly content is deceiving and leads to sin. Bible reading is convicting and leads to repentance.
Ask yourself: How much of the content I’m consuming is inspired by the Holy Spirit?
If you want to be wise, read the Bible. If you want to be fooled, listen to the voice of this world, the spirit of deception.
We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.
1 John 5:19 NLT
Don’t be fooled, the world is not your friend.
God is leading His People. God is communicating with His children. You won’t miss out on anything by turning off the voice of the deceiver.
Tune into God’s voice. Increase your ability to discern the truth from a lie by reading the Bible. Pray and ask God what He wants from you. Then, you won’t be easily misled and led away in captivity to sin.
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
1 John 4:4 NLT
Heavenly Father, forgive me for giving ear to the voice of the deceiver and for listening to worldly people. Forgive me for looking at the things of this world and thinking that they have any real value. Forgive Your Church for partaking in the ways of the world and not keeping in step with the Holy Spirit. Redeem us, O Lord, from worldliness so that we can shine in Christlikeness. Amen.
Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
