Don’t Let Your Hearts Be Troubled

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”

John 14:1 NLT

Trust, listen and obey.

Trust God. Trust Jesus.

When you trust God, who is always truthful, loving, and faithful to forgive, your heart will be at peace and rest.

We can trouble our own hearts. We can move from faith to unbelief. We can go from following Jesus to going our own way. This is unwise and unnecessary. Don’t trouble your hearts. Remain in fellowship with Christ.

Let the grace of God be yours in abundance.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Peace and rest come from our fellowship with God. Abiding in Christ, remaining in His love, refreshes our souls constantly. Don’t let the wellspring of life within you be dammed up.

Trust, listen and obey.

Listen to God. The Holy Spirit lives within us. He tells us what He hears. Whatever He says is true and can be trusted and acted upon.

Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

“Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.

“I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative — that is, the Holy Spirit — he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”

John 14:23-26 NLT

God is alive. He is still speaking to His people today. He can be known. You can obey Him. You can walk with God.

Trust, listen and obey.

We love God. Therefore, we obey Him. He is a good Father. His instructions lead to everlasting life. We must trust Him and who He is, before we will diligently seek His Kingdom first above all else.

Seeking His Kingdom, obeying God’s will, is our primary responsibility in this life. It’s not difficult. It’s actually joyful and full of good fruit. Walking with God brings peace to our hearts. The fullness of joy is found in the Presence of God. Why leave His Presence? Why interrupt our fellowship with God? Why sin? I can think of no good reason to.

Trust, listen and obey.

Father in Heaven, we desire to know You. Increase our faith. We desire to trust you. Help us with our unbelief. We want to hear Your voice. Cleanse us of our sin. We want to talk with You. Give us hearts that are quick to obey You. Speak to us, O God, in our heart of hearts, and lead us on the path of everlasting life. Lead Your Church, O God, to righteously represent You here on Earth. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

“I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

  1. Hey Dennis,

You just keep giving and caring. I see God using you powerfully. Carl is one example.

Thank you for the bucks you slipped to me today. God is supplying all my needs, and he often does it through friends like you.

So grateful for you and your friendship.
