Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us].
1 Corinthians 16:14 AMP
If pride is our motivator, we’ve already failed.
Pride is of the evil one and there is no room for it in the heart of God nor His children.
Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.
Philippians 2:3 NET
God was moved by compassion to save us. Everything that Jesus did was motivated by the love of the Father. Let us follow Christ’s example.
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are interdependent and serve one another in love. Together, we make up the Body of Christ, with Jesus as the Head. There’s only One Lord. Obey Him. Love will not lead you to sin.
The world says look out for number one. Have it your way. The Lord says crucify your carnal desires and die to yourself daily. Become a humble servant of the Lord. Don’t exalt yourself. Exalt God and He will lift you up.
Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility]…
Philippians 2:4-5 AMP
God’s Spirit is living and active. It examines our hearts. It exposes our motives. Not to judge us, but to lead us to repentance. When we read the written Word of God, the Holy Spirit reveals truth to our hearts.
This is a season of purification for the Body of Christ. The washing of the Word of God over our souls removes the contamination of worldly and carnal motives. Let God do what only He can do. Let the Word of God wash over your soul daily as the waves wash over the sands on the shore.
What does God want to remove from your heart? What does God want to remove from your mind? Allow Him in to do His work. The sanctification of our souls leads to holy living.
When we try to get all our actions right without first addressing the issues of our hearts, we become hypocrites. We act religious but our hearts are still wicked.
When we come to God as we are, and ask Him to reveal anything in us that grieves Him, He responds with truth in grace. Give Me your sins, child, I paid for them on the Cross. I will exchange them for My holiness when you repent.
Give God your heart. And He will give You His.
Prayer Points
- Confess any sin to God and ask Him to forgive it.
- Ask God what He wants to change in your life. Give Him full permission to do it.
- Ask God to purify your heart and your mind and to give you pure motives.
Father in Heaven, order the steps of every man, woman and child. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.
You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
