Every Good & Perfect Gift

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
James 1:17 NKJV

Christians have faith that God is Father. Our God is a good Father. He never changes. He is always good. He is always generous. He only gives good gifts. His gifts are perfect.

God wants us to be like Himself. Children resemble their Father. As they mature, they take on the character of the Father. They go about their Father’s business in the Kingdom.

Everything that the Father has, He passes on to the Son. When we believe in the Son, we get adopted. We become part of God’s family by faith.

In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
James 1:18 NASB2020

It is God’s will that everyone be saved. He is patient as people run wild. When they come to their senses, when they come to the end of themselves, when they repent and turn to God, He welcomes them home with open arms.

The word of Truth gives us new life. It’s a gift. It’s the perfect remedy. Whatever you need, just ask God. His response will be perfect.

We are the first fruits of the harvest — those who willingly choose to worship God with our lives. The whole harvest will come in. Don’t lose heart. The Lord’s harvest will come in. Keep your hand to the plow and don’t look back.

Prayer Points

Thank God for the free gift of salvation.
Thank Him for choosing you and adopting you as His own beloved child.
Ask God to activate all of your spiritual gifts so that you can work effectively in His harvest field.

Father in Heaven, You are the unchanging One. You are perfect, righteous and holy. You are All-Powerful and All-Knowing. Nothing is hidden from Your sight. Thank You for giving us every good and perfect gift we need to do Your will for our lives here on Earth. Help us to be mindful that we are only passing through and that our time is temporary. Help us make the best use of our time here. Deliver us from distraction. Deliver us from fear. Deliver us from feeling unworthy of the assignment You’ve given us. Help us go boldly into the world as ambassadors of Christ, proclaiming the Gospel and welcoming lost souls into Your everlasting Kingdom. Amen.

Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.

Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.

Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory.

And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful.
