Who Is The Church?

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

Romans 8:14 NLT

Don’t ask where do you go to church? The church is not a location.

Don’t ask when do you go to church? The church is not an event.

Ask who are you the church with? The church is a people — the family of God.

Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

Ephesians 2:20-22 NLT

We are the house of God. God lives in a house not built by human hands. He lives in temples made of flesh. We, individually and collectively, are the temple of the Holy Spirit. God dwells in us by the Spirit. We are united with Christ and God is our Father. We are all brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Who are your closest brothers and sisters in Christ? Who do you worship with? Who do you fellowship with? Who do you serve with? Who do you encourage? Who do you share meals with? Who do you build up in love? Who do you pray for? Who do you go with to share the Gospel with the lost? Who is your church family?

Church means called out from the world. Who are the people that you know that are being led by God’s Spirit to advance the Kingdom of God? Walk in unity with them by allowing the Holy Spirit to direct your steps, both individually and collectively.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for the flourishing of your church family.
  • Pray for the lost to be spiritually reborn into God’s family.
  • Pray that God leads you and His whole church by His Spirit today and everyday.

Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.
