Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Colossians 3:12 NLT
It’s good to honor the Lord with our lives.
The Father loves us so very much. He sent the Son to set us free. He freely gives the Holy Spirit to all who ask to empower us to live holy lives.
With all that God has done and is now doing for us, why wouldn’t we want to abide in His love?
Abiding is a choice. We choose to remain in Him by choosing to obey Him. We can resist God’s will. We can choose to be disobedient and sin. It’s not fruitful and it’s unwise. But we have free will. We can choose to live for God. I suggest that’s the logical choice.
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Colossians 3:13 NLT
Abiding in Christ leads to grace filled relating. The Lord forgave us. His grace is a free gift. Let’s forgive those who offend us freely as well.
We’re all human. We all make mistakes. We’re all prone to error and deception if we don’t practice discernment and humility. God didn’t give us the ministry of judgment and condemnation. Quite the contrary, He gives us the ministry of reconciliation. We beg people to be reconciled to God.
When we’re in a friendly, loving relationship with our Heavenly Father, it’s so much easier to extend grace to those around us. Spending time alone with God in nature is a great way to recalibrate our souls with the Father’s heart. Jesus practiced this habit regularly.
I encourage you, beloved of God, to clothe yourselves in Christ, clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Clothe yourselves with love. That way, the whole world will know that you are His disciples.
