Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.
When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.
Psalms 146:3-4 NLT
The Bible teaches us that humans are carnal in nature and that our hearts are deceitfully wicked.
We are born as sinful beings into a sinful world, completely disconnected from an awareness of God’s loving presence. We are blind. We cannot see the truth of God’s Word unless Christ removes the veil.
We need a Savior. We need Christ. He is the only One who can give us eternal life and rescue us from our sin. If we think we can save ourselves, or some mere human is the answer, we deceive ourselves.
Christ alone deserves our allegiance.
Christ alone has the wisdom we need to navigate the challenges of this ever changing world that’s headed for the fire.
The world and everything in it will disappear. If you want to live a spiritually fruitful life, focus on what has actual value from an eternal perspective, caring for one another’s souls.
We don’t even know if we will be here tomorrow. God only knows. So place your trust in God, seek His face, seek His Kingdom, and He will take good care of you.
The end is assured. In light of that, what should we be doing today? Shining for Jesus with God’s love in our hearts, His Words on our tongues and His wisdom in our heads. Freely you have received, freely give.
I love you all and I hope that God will give you the desires of your heart. Amen.
Prayer Points
- Ask God to show you where you have misplaced your trust into people, programs, systems, governments, etc. besides the Son of God.
- Ask God to forgive you for being deceived and exchange every lie you’ve believed and acted on with His truth and grace.
- Pray that the Lord would deliver the nations into the Kingdom of God.
But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever.
He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly.
The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
The Lord will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the Lord!
